The lid seals the container, and the plug is the cap in its centre. You insert the tamper through its opening without taking the lid off — that's why nothing splashes with a Vitamix while you push thick ingredients back down. If either part is lost or becomes brittle, you get both together here.

The 2.0 L low-profile Classic container — that is, the container included with the E320, E520, and Pro 750. Not for the Interlock containers of the Ascent Interlock series or the X containers of the Ascent X series; those have their own lid sets.
