High-performance blender buying guide: which Vitamix suits you?

The Vitamix lineup has seven blender models across two lines (Classic and Ascent). Here you'll find a direct comparison of the most common model decisions.

What sets the Vitamix Pro 750 apart from the Ascent A3500i?

Both are top-of-the-line Vitamix models with five preset programs, but they differ in controls, container system, and warranty:

Vitamix Pro 750 Vitamix Ascent A3500i
Controls Analog variable speed dial Touchscreen + programmable timer
Container system Classic Interlock + SELF-DETECT
Warranty 7 years 10 years
Dishwasher Hand-wash (Classic containers) Fully dishwasher-safe (Interlock)
Container choice All Classic + Legacy Vitamix Interlock only

Pro 750 if: you prefer working with wet hands, already own Classic containers, or prefer analog controls.

A3500i if: you want maximum program flexibility, the longest warranty (10 years), and automatic container detection. The three-year warranty difference can offset the price premium at a four-figure purchase price.

What sets the Vitamix A2500i apart from the A3500i?

Both share identical hardware (motor base, 1,200–1,400 W, the same Interlock container) and both carry a 10-year warranty. The differences lie in the control panel and program selection:

Vitamix A2500i Vitamix A3500i
Display LED (timer + status) Touchscreen with program buttons
Programs 3 (Smoothies, Frozen Desserts, Hot Soups) 5 (plus Dips & Spreads, Self-Cleaning)
Programmable timer No Yes
Colors Black, Slate, Red, White Brushed Stainless Steel
Warranty 10 years 10 years

The A2500i is the streamlined entry point into the Ascent SELF-DETECT system. The A3500i is the flagship with the full program selection.

What sets the Vitamix E310 apart from the E320?

Both are manual Explorian blenders without preset programs and identical controls. The differences lie in the container and warranty:

Vitamix E310 Vitamix E320
Container 1.4 L Explorian container 2.0 L Low-Profile Explorian container
Minimum liquid fill from 250 ml from 500 ml
Tamper Short Medium
Warranty 5 years 7 years
Ideal for 1–2 person household 2–4 person household

The two-year warranty difference (5 vs. 7 years for household use) is a strong argument for the E320: at a high three-figure price point, the premium is quickly justified when the warranty runs 40% longer.

What sets the Vitamix E510 apart from the E520?

Both share the same motor base, the same 3 preset programs (Smoothies, Hot Soups, Frozen Desserts), and 1,100–1,300 W. The differences lie in the container and warranty:

Vitamix E510 Vitamix E520
Container 1.4 L Explorian container 2.0 L Low-Profile Explorian container
Minimum liquid fill from 250 ml from 500 ml
Tamper Short Medium
Warranty 5 years 7 years

The two-year warranty difference (5 vs. 7 years for household use) is a strong argument for the E520: at a high three-figure price point, the premium pays off quickly when the warranty runs 40% longer.

Explorian vs. Ascent — which system should you choose?

The two Vitamix lines differ fundamentally in their container system:

Explorian (E310/E320/E510/E520) + Pro 750 — Classic system

  • Mechanical container mount, no sensor
  • Compatible with all Vitamix Classic-line and Legacy containers (TNC 5200, C-/G-Series)
  • Warranty: 5–7 years for household use (model-dependent)
  • Good for Vitamix owners with existing containers or those who want to use multiple container types

Ascent (A2500i/A3500i) — Interlock system with SELF-DETECT

  • NFC chip in the container detects container size automatically; program runtime adjusts accordingly
  • Lid sensor stops the motor if the lid is not fully locked
  • Containers are fully dishwasher-safe
  • Warranty: 10 years for household use — the longest in the VE range
  • Compatible with Interlock containers only — no switching to/from Classic containers

The two systems are not cross-compatible.

Recommendation: If you own an older Vitamix or want to use different container types → Classic line. If you value SELF-DETECT, lid safety, full dishwasher compatibility, and the longest warranty → Ascent line.

What sets the Vitamix Pro 750 apart from the E520?

Both use the Classic system, come with the 2.0 L Low-Profile container, and carry the same warranty (7 years for household use). The differences lie in program selection and motor output:

Vitamix Pro 750 Vitamix E520
Programs 5 (incl. Purées + Self-Cleaning) 3
Motor output 1,200–1,400 W 1,100–1,300 W
Warranty 7 years 7 years

If you want Self-Cleaning and more programs → Pro 750. If 3 core programs are enough and you want to save → E520.
