I recently experienced a failure with the lid interlock mechanism on my Vitamix. While I must acknowledge that customer support was extremely fast, helpful, and efficient in resolving the issue, the design itself leaves a lot to be desired.
For a product aimed at professional performance, it is simply unacceptable to be left stranded by what feels like the whim of an overly complex automated system. The lid was fully secured and the container properly placed, yet the blender refused to start—all because some tiny sensor somewhere failed or got lost.
While I understand the emphasis on safety regulations, there are far simpler and more robust ways to guarantee user safety without creating single points of failure. Excessive technology and over-engineering are not always the right solution, especially when they compromise basic reliability. Excellent support doesn't entirely make up for a mechanism that is ultimately too cumbersome and fragile.
