Coffee nice cream

Coffee nice cream

Creamy frozen dessert with cold brew, bananas, and cocoa — dairy-free.

5 minEasyNice CreamVeganLactose-Free

This nice cream combines frozen bananas with cold-brew coffee and cocoa powder into a creamy, dairy-free dessert. The natural sweetness of the bananas makes added sugar unnecessary, while the coffee delivers a subtle roasted note. Ready in less than a minute.

Instructions

  1. 1

Add all ingredients to the container in the order listed and secure the lid.

  2. 2

Start the Frozen Dessert program, or start the blender at the lowest speed and ramp quickly to the highest.

  3. 3

Blend for 30–50 seconds, using the tamper to push ingredients toward the blades. After 25–60 seconds, the motor sound changes and four mounds should form.

  4. 4

Stop the blender. Don't blend too long or the dessert will melt. Serve immediately.

Chef's Note

You can use freshly ground coffee as a garnish. For a stronger coffee note, increase the cold brew by 30 ml. Serve the dessert immediately after blending — longer processing will cause it to melt.

Frozen bananas combined with cold brew form a heavy, cold mass that overloads ordinary blenders or leaves unblended chunks. Thanks to variable speed control and the tamper, the Vitamix processes this consistency in under a minute into a uniformly creamy result. Start on the lowest speed and ramp quickly to maximum; use the tamper to push the frozen mass continuously toward the blades — the Ascent's Frozen Dessert program handles this ramp automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use regular coffee instead of cold brew?
Yes, but let it cool completely before you use it — hot coffee would thaw the frozen bananas and water down the texture. Cold brew is ideal because it is already cold and has a milder flavor.
How do I keep the nice cream from melting too quickly?
Blend only until the mixture is evenly creamy and four mounds become visible at the surface. If you over-blend, the motor warms the nice cream. Serve it right away after that, or place it in the freezer for two hours at most.
Does the recipe also work without cold brew — caffeine-free?
Yes. Just replace the cold brew with oat milk or another plant-based milk. The result is a chocolate-banana nice cream without a coffee note, but with the same creaminess.
Why is the cocoa powder so far down the ingredient list?
In the recipe it goes into the container fourth — after the liquids and before the bananas. That way it dissolves more easily and does not stick to the dry bottom of the container. No snowballing.
Which blender is suitable for coffee nice cream?
You need a high-performance blender with a tamper. Frozen banana mixture is very compact — a weaker blender risks stalling or leaving unblended pieces behind. The Vitamix with the included tamper blends the mixture creamy in under a minute.
