Vitamix Explorian E510
Blender with three program settings and a 1.4-litre container — for 1–2-person households and smaller quantities.
The 1.4 L Classic container is designed for 1–4 servings. Liquid preparations work from 250 ml, and firmer ones from approx. 400 ml — so even pesto for one dinner or hummus for two people stays in the right range. The three program settings Smoothies, Hot Soups, and Frozen Desserts run on their own. For everything in between, you dial in the speed manually with the speed dial.
Your benefits
- Three program settings: Smoothies, Hot Soups, and Frozen Desserts run without you lifting a finger.
- Full manual control: 10 speeds plus Pulse feature, if you'd rather stay in control of the tempo yourself.
- Compact 1.4 L container: made of BPA-free Tritan, designed for 1–4 servings and fits under any standard upper cabinet.
- Upgradeable: compatible with the 2.0 L low-profile Classic container for larger quantities.
- Five-year manufacturer's warranty: for household use.
How you operate it
Left or right — that decides everything here. Turn the dial left, and the blender takes over for you: Smoothie, Hot Soup, or Frozen Dessert, three program settings that run on their own. Turn it right, and you take over yourself — ten speeds, variable, your hand on the tempo. You start blending with the start/stop toggle switch on the right, and short bursts come from the Pulse switch on the left. A real on/off switch sits at the base, and it really is off.
Vitamix Classic container 1.4 L
The narrow 1.4 L container is designed for 1–4 servings and works well for your daily morning smoothie, small soups, or nut butter. The vortex works cleanly from just 250 ml of liquid, and firmer preparations like pesto or nut butter need 400 ml — so even small quantities reliably reach the blades. The four blades pull a concentrated vortex downward, carrying ingredients from the edge of the container back to the centre of the blades. A Classic container, compatible with all Explorian blenders, but not with the Ascent Interlock series or the Ascent X series.

Not sure if the E510 is the right choice?
The E510 is the 1.4-litre Explorian with three program settings. Without program settings, but otherwise the same size, it's the E310: E310 vs. E510. It gets bigger with the E520. Starting from scratch: find the right model in three steps.
The motor carries a 5-year manufacturer's warranty for household use; your statutory rights remain unaffected (warranty terms).

FAQs
-
Which containers fit the Vitamix Explorian E510?
The Vitamix Explorian E510 uses the Classic mount system. The 1.4 L Classic container is included. Additional compatible containers: the 2.0 L Classic container (tall), the 2.0 L Low-Profile Classic container, and the Aer Disc container Classic. Interlock containers from the Ascent series are not compatible with the Explorian E510. -
What sets the Vitamix Explorian E510 apart from the Ascent series?
Both blender lines have a high-performance motor and preset programs. The difference lies in the container system and warranty: the E510 uses Classic containers without SELF-DETECT or Interlock lid detection; it carries a 5-year manufacturer warranty for household use. The Ascent series uses Interlock containers with SELF-DETECT; the A2500i and A3500i carry a 10-year warranty. -
What is the minimum blending quantity for the Vitamix Explorian E510?
In the included 1.4 L Classic container, the minimum quantity for the Vitamix Explorian E510 is approximately 250 ml for liquid preparations and approximately 400 ml for thick mixtures such as smoothies with frozen fruit. -
How hot can ingredients be in the Vitamix Explorian E510?
The Classic containers are made from Tritan and are heat-resistant up to 100 °C. At higher temperatures, the material may warp. Hot soups are prepared by blending cold or lukewarm ingredients and heating them through friction — the Vitamix Explorian E510 reaches temperatures of up to 80 °C in approximately 6 minutes at the highest speed setting. -
Can I grind grains or coffee with the Vitamix Explorian E510?
Grinding is only partially practical in the included 1.4 L Classic container — it is fitted with wet blades and is not optimized for dry grinding. For regular grinding of grains, coffee, or spices, a dedicated dry-grinding container or the Aer Disc container Classic is recommended. -
How do I clean the Vitamix Explorian E510?
Rinse the container with lukewarm water immediately after blending. For fatty ingredients (avocado, nuts, oil): fill the container halfway with lukewarm water, add 1–2 drops of dish soap, run the dial at the highest setting for about 60 seconds, then rinse. The Classic containers are dishwasher-safe; Vitamix recommends hand-washing to protect the Tritan material and blades. Wipe the motor base and rubber mat on top with a damp cloth. -
Is the container of the Vitamix Explorian E510 dishwasher-safe?
Yes, the 1.4 L Classic container of the Vitamix Explorian E510 is dishwasher-safe. However, Vitamix recommends hand-washing to protect the Tritan material and the blade assembly from long-term wear. The lid and lid plug are also hand-wash only. -
What safety guidelines apply to the Vitamix Explorian E510?
The Vitamix Explorian E510 shuts off automatically when it overheats and cools down before restarting — this only occurs with very thick preparations such as dough. Use the tamper only with the lid fully seated. Before cleaning, unplug the blender and never submerge it in water. -
how do I close it more easily?
A tight fit is normal with a new lid. The surrounding sealing lip is firm at first, which is what makes it seal reliably. With use, the sealing lip adjusts over time, and the lid becomes easier to fit.
Warm the lid before fitting it: put the lid in warm to hot washing-up water for 1–2 minutes, then fit it onto the container while still warm. When warm, the sealing lip gives way more easily and slides over the container rim more easily. This helps mainly in the early period; once the lid has adjusted, it is no longer necessary. Do not use boiling water.
Alternatively, dishwasher – top rack only: if you clean the lid in the dishwasher, put it in the top rack. That is where the distance to the heating element is greatest and cleaning is gentlest. Do not put it in the bottom rack.
