A tamper is the simplest tool in the Vitamix world — and the one that causes most smoothies to fail before they become smooth. Ice does not slide down on its own, a thick bowl mixture sticks to the sides. The tamper pushes solid ingredients back towards the blades without touching them — and because every container shape has its own depth, it comes in four lengths.

Which one fits depends on the container: short and medium for Explorian containers, long for the Classic, S2 for the 2.0-litre Interlock of the Ascent.
