Vitamix Ascent A3500i
The complete Ascent Interlock system with touchscreen, timer, and a 10-year manufacturer warranty.
You set the container on the base — the A3500i recognizes what you have in mind and dials in the runtime and program accordingly. Tap Smoothies, and it runs for exactly 45 seconds. Tap Hot Soups, and the motor blends until friction heat brings the soup in the container up to 100 °C. The programmable timer covers everything outside the five presets — set the time, press start, and the blender takes it from there.
The interplay of touchscreen, timer, and SELF-DETECT is the heart of the Ascent series. The blender only starts with the lid closed, and it automatically matches programs and timing to whichever Interlock container is in place. Self-cleaning in 60 seconds comes as standard.

The vortex starts cleanly from 500 ml of liquid; for ice cream and nice cream you need 800 ml so the tamper reaches deep enough into the ingredients. The long blades and wide base create a strong vortex that pulls ingredients from the container wall back toward the blades — leafy greens like kale or spinach come out fiber-free and creamy, with no residue left behind. An NFC chip sits in the base: as soon as you place the container on the motor, the blender recognizes which model is on top and adjusts the program runtime accordingly. Interlock containers fit only on Ascent blenders and are not compatible with Explorian or Professional models."}]}]}

FAQs

What does SELF-DETECT do on the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
SELF-DETECT is the container identification system of the Ascent series. A passive NFC chip in the base of each Interlock container communicates with a reader in the motor base. The A3500i reads the container size and automatically adjusts the preset programs, maximum speed, and runtime — optimized results for each container without manual adjustments. -
How does the lid detection work on the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
A magnet in the lid of Ascent Interlock containers activates a sensor in the blender housing. The blender only starts once the lid is fully locked. This prevents operation without a properly seated lid and is part of the Interlock system. Classic containers are not compatible with the Ascent series. -
What is the minimum blending quantity for the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
In the 2.0 L Interlock container, the minimum quantity is approximately 500 ml for liquid preparations and approximately 800 ml for thick mixtures such as smoothies with frozen fruit. For smaller quantities, the 0.6 L To-Go Cup with the Personal Cup Adapter (sold separately) is an option — minimum fill: approximately 180 ml. -
How hot can ingredients be in the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
The Interlock containers are made from Tritan and are heat-resistant up to 100 °C. At higher temperatures, the material may warp. Hot soups are prepared by blending cold or lukewarm ingredients and heating them through friction — the Vitamix Ascent A3500i reaches temperatures of up to 80 °C in approximately 6 minutes at the highest speed setting. -
Can I grind grains, coffee, or spices with the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
Yes, the separately available Dry Grains container Interlock (1.4 L) is designed for this purpose. Its blade assembly consists of dry blades optimized for grinding. The standard 2.0 L Interlock container uses wet blades, which are less effective for grinding. The Dry Grains container is compatible with all Ascent series blenders. -
What sets the Vitamix Ascent A3500i apart from the Pro 750?
Both blenders have a 1,200–1,400 W motor. The difference lies in controls, container system, and warranty: the A3500i has a touchscreen, a programmable timer, SELF-DETECT, and five preset programs; it uses the Interlock container system. The Pro 750 has a variable speed dial, toggle switches, and five preset programs; it uses the Classic container system. The A3500i carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty for household use, the Pro 750 a 5-year warranty. -
Are US containers and US accessories compatible with the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
No. US models (Ascent A3500 without the 'i') operate at 110–120 V and use a different NFC frequency. US containers are not compatible with European Ascent models and vice versa. Only Interlock containers with the EMEA NFC specification are compatible with the Vitamix Ascent A3500i. -
Does the Vitamix Ascent A3500i have Bluetooth or app control?
The Vitamix Ascent A3500i sold in EMEA has no app control and no Bluetooth connection to external devices. The NFC chip in the container is used exclusively for SELF-DETECT — container identification and automatic setting adjustment. There is no connection to smartphones or the Vitamix app. -
How do I clean the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
The easiest method is the Self-Cleaning program: fill the container halfway with lukewarm water, add 1–2 drops of dish soap, and press the Self-Cleaning button — the cycle runs for about 60 seconds. Rinse the container afterwards. The Interlock containers are dishwasher-safe; Vitamix recommends hand-washing to protect the Tritan material and blades. Wipe the motor base and rubber mat on top with a damp cloth; the mat is removable if needed. -
Are the containers of the Vitamix Ascent A3500i dishwasher-safe?
Yes, the Interlock containers are dishwasher-safe. However, Vitamix recommends hand-washing to protect the Tritan material and the blade assembly from long-term wear. The lid and lid plug are also hand-wash only. -
What safety guidelines apply to the Vitamix Ascent A3500i?
The Vitamix Ascent A3500i shuts off automatically when it overheats and cools down before restarting — this only occurs with very thick preparations such as dough. Use the S2 tamper only with the lid fully seated. The Interlock lid must be fully locked before the blender starts. Before cleaning, unplug the blender and never submerge it in water.
